An experimental remake of Breakfast at Tiffany's. Before I started shooting this film in 2000, I'd read that Truman Capote (my biggest obsession at the time) originally wanted the protagonist to be a gay man but wound up with Holly Golightly for the sake of broader appeal and sales. My original idea was to do a low-fi underground re-make with a male lead, but when we started shooting, the movie took on a very unexpected life of its own, it became more of a reflection of me as a director and how, like Holly, I felt subverted and powerless as a Queer.
